It’s been a while…
August has been a really fun month! The Edinburgh Fringe festival has sadly just ended but I did manage to see quite a few of the magic shows that were going on. It seemed like there were far more magicians here than last year and the shows I saw were packed out! It does seems like magic is increasingly growing in popularity, which is probably thanks to the array of prime time TV shows bringing it to millions of front rooms.
As I am mainly a close-up magician at the moment, I decided against doing a Fringe show this year but I did get a good insight into what is involved. As a result of this and the fact I’ve been wanting to take the plunge, I have decided to do a show at next years Fringe!
In line with this, I have accepted the opportunity to perform a stage act at a fundraising event in Glasgow at the start of October in preparation. I am hoping to get many more and use them to refine my new show.
Other Fringey goodness included a few magicians, with myself, took to the streets to entertain Fringe goers. We were accompanied by a very talented Photographer who goes under his crazy pseudo name “Judy Cabbages”. I’ll hopefully have a few snaps of this to show soon!
I did manage to escape the festival. On the weekend past, I was one of the entertainments at a large gala show. It had quad bikes, pony rides, bouncy castles, prize stalls, dog agility trials and lots more. I was doing my thing for just over 2 hours and met all sorts of fun families making a day of it.
